Falmouth cool

Our first well-earned day off in the fabulous yachties' paradise of Falmouth was a mix of chores and fun.

Chores:
showers and laundry (we and the bed-clothes really needed a wash by now)
hosing the boat (she needed it too)
trip to chandlers - The Bosun's Locker - for stuff various
checking the window leak which rained water drops on our polished teak cupboards yesterday
getting more cash for our boat kitty (amazing how it drains away)
getting a new watch strap for Lesley

Fun:
leisurely lunch
strolling around town
taking a bunch of books to charity shops (and buying a bunch more)
visiting Falmouth Art Gallery - free and full of Cornish artists' work
the Fudge Shop for Nic's sweet tooth
more eyeballing of the super-yachts moored on the next pontoon

Impressions:
In Falmouth, tanned young people in shorts and deck shoes hang out in a lazy bohemian haze. Everywhere you look there are sudden cameos of blue water and moored yachts. It's the kind of place where if you haven't got a boat, at least you aspire to have one. It's steeped in maritime history, and the greatest joy is yet to come - tomorrow we go to the Falmouth outpost of the National Maritime Museum; we're members of the Greenwich mother ship. The museum is about a minute's walk away from our pontoon.
